The Networks 100 course will give you a fundamental understanding of networking based on the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and TCP/IP models. Once you’re familiar with the OSI model, we’ll take a more detailed look at components including: DNS, DHCP and routing. Upon completion of this course, you’ll have a basic understand of how data moves through a computer as well as how its network can be compromised. This course will also cover Address Resolution Protocol (ARP). network troubleshooting and other network-based concepts.
About Author:
John Black is co-founder of SecureSet and an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Colorado. Black specializes in applied cryptography as well as network and system security. He is the recipient of a U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Award in addition to several teaching awards and is co-author on numerous technical papers. Dr.Black has worked with computers for more than 30 years. Prior to his tenure at the University of Colorado, Dr. Black was an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Senior Developer for Ingres Corp. He has a B.S. (’88) summa cum laude in computer science and mathematics from the California State University and an M.S. (’97) and Ph.D. (’00) in computer science from the University of California at Davis.
